Shopping Triumphs 1

So first post for what is hopefully a return to blogging after over 6 years of absence. I completed my last exam last week, Wednesday so I've been officially career-less for a week. You know what they say in Chinese, graduation is a loss of your career. I wonder if these emojis turn up?

Superette

Last week This month I did a once in a lifetime year super duper shopping spree. One of the stores I bought from was Superette. I'm not one to keep up with trends successfully since I'm so used to buying things in "bulk" either online or when I go overseas. So usually the things I buy are on sale/discounted and are more likely to be last season's trend. But I don't really care about that because if it's something I like, why can't I buy it? Also, if it's good quality, it should last through a few years let alone a few seasons! Who cares in the end when you buy it if you are still able to use the same product after so many years? Never mind, I continue with my post about my shopping triumphs from Superette (mainly because it's the first bulk of things I've received. Since I've already posted on Dayre, this post is mostly a copy and paste.

Since I'm almost broke now after shopping... I'll console myself with posting pictures of my shopping triumphs and my inability to find a job. *cries* Superette unboxing?
Here's a pic of what's inside the boxes! Superette is doing this promotion where each order over $150 gets you a free Superette umbrella valued at $49. There's actually two orders here and minus an umbrella which they told me will be sent to me tomorrow.
Originally I was only going to get the Glam Gold Ombré phone case by Case Mate, but the black one caught my eye during my shopping. I succumbed to materialistic temptation  and added the black one to my cart as well. Superette is selling them at $50.  there goes all my money!!!
My next choice was the blush leopard print cotton scarf (on the left, in case you are colour blind?). Originally I only wanted this and the gold phone case. I recently bought a pair of shoes from NZSale (which I haven't arrived yet) and I thought this scarf matches the shoe. Except after I added that to my cart, the red one caught my eye!  I'm a fan of red. I think I'll colour coordinate my life - black and white, red and gold (to suit Iron Man colours because I'm such a fangirl). Superette is selling them for $49! So I was well above the $150 minimum purchase required for a free umbrella! But I wasn't going to give in to temptation entirely and I exited the site without purchasing!
Obviously, I returned and forked over my credit card details. In the end, I picked my purchase based on Superette's marketing  in my cart, the red scarf and the glam black ombré case was labelled as running out! So I picked those ones. Most recently, many people were posting pics of their "Do Epic Shit" notebook and as someone who is attracted to shiny objects, I added that to my cart as well as Superette's beauty bag. Not that I needed it, I just figured maybe I can gift that to someone.
This is when I experienced the extent of capturing the buyer in a moment of weakness... I was making these shopping decisions in the dead of the night and was particularly vulnerable to suggestion. That is: receiving a $10 off your next purchase! The catch? Use it within 30 days.

"Nothing haunts us like the things we don't buy."

Right? So I gave in and returned to the site to refill my shopping cart. I got my gold case and blush leopard print scarf that I originally wanted. At this point though, I had already stumbled upon Ashley & Co's minibars which uses goat's milk and manuka honey. The white one is called Parakeets & Pearls - green tea + white lily scents. On the actual website though, the packaging is orange? The green is called Bubbles & Polkadots - floral rose + soft powdery musk.
I was already drooling at the scent description, and add onto the patriotic person that I am, I needed to try out this product of New Zealand. I think the hardest part will be which one to use first. On the A&C website, these bars are supposedly for your hands and body. I haven't actually used soap in a very, very long time.
I don't regret the soap purchase! When I opened my parcel, the entire box content smelled wonderful. The scarfs were also wrapped in this multi-coloured dot paper wrap.

I noticed that I was pretty close to getting a second umbrella and while I don't know if it's allowed or not, I thought eh why the hell not? The green leopard print is pretty! Except now I'm pretty sure I purchased the exact same scarfs as my friend did a few months ago. Awkward.
Total damage done by Superette? $321.01 (the $10 discount was actually $9.99). I'm just glad they don't charge extra for delivery. And it's tracked and delivered by Courier Post. This is the first time I ordered from Superette online and it's pretty much broken my bank account.  never mind.

Harney & Sons

I might as well post about my other purchases while I'm here! I recently went to Farro to look for Jane's Garden Tea (green tea and roses). Unfortunately, I was out of luck but they did have the pomegranate oolong which is a favourite choice of mine whenever I go to Frasers for tea and cake. I'm not one to ever say no to green tea or rose and when green tea and rose is put together, I won't be able to resist trying it out. It was available at the university bookshop. And so starts my tea collection...

Karen Walker

Cute right? I went to The Department Store to get a few things. Mainly another iPhone case. *Sighs* I must tell you, at this point in time, I have NOT yet bought an iPhone 5s. I have been tossing and turning over the decision to get the 5s or the 6. I originally caved in to Apple due to the look of the 4. The 6 is a far cry from the 4 in terms of appearance. I'm not ready to make the transition to the 6 and I have read some posts that say while the 6 is technically better, it feels too much like the 5/5s. Looking at the specs and especially the camera, I didn't feel like the 6 is worth it. I rather get a phone I like the outside look of if the inside isn't that much of a big deal. But anyway, the main point is that my mother, hasn't got any phone, and I've given my 4 to her. How anyone can survive this century without a phone, I don't know. Anyway, I don't have to justify my choice. I'll just say I got the 5s due to superficial reasons.

I love the runaway girl design so I had to have this as soon as I saw it. I almost wish I never saw the keychain on Instagram! The Runaway Girl Keyring can be yours for $25! While for some, that's an exorbitant amount for a keyring, but I probably put too much meaning behind this design for myself. I love travelling and I think that's what it stems from. Just getting yourself out there, exploring the world with nothing but your bare essentials. Except of course, this blog post is a direct contradiction of this. The entire post is about indulgence in unnecessary items that are probably over priced.

The blue Runaway Girl phone case was love at first sight despite my being a red lover. There's a red version too which I decided against it. But now I kinda want the red one too! I felt like the blue was looked better, but who knows, maybe I'll end up buying it too. It of course comes in Samsung Galaxy S5 as well and are selling for $45. While it is expensive for what it is (polycarbonate which is high-impact resistant but highly sensitive to scratches), we will have to see just how good a job it is at protecting the iPhone 5s? My suitcases I bought in Taiwan are also made out of polycarbonate. While it hasn't broken from impact pressure, it already has a few scratches.

Well in addition to my Karen Walker purchases in the weekend, I also bought this oven mitt - In the Garden. Most expensive oven mitt I've ever bought ($20) but I bought it a a gift for my mother who recently started learning how to use the oven.  I used it last night and I realised I should probably have bought two... except I didn't want to build the temptation to purchase the entire line.
I already saved $75 by not buying the beach towel. There was a red one with the Runaway Girl but it is huge! I'd die from washing it so my desire for it died as soon as I saw just how huge it really is.
Anyway, what did I use the oven mitt for? Well I made a green tea chiffon cake.  Alas! After mixing all the ingredients, I realised that we had no more baking paper left!!!  but we did have cupcake paper. Don't know why, no one in this household has ever made cupcakes.  so I improvised and dumped the mix into this. And voilà?
The cake had a good fluffy feel but I think it was too dry. I put less sugar and more green tea powder but the adjustments were too huge. I will continue working on it. But truth talk here, I think from now on, I'll just bake them as cupcakes.
Well, I'll probably make another post about with the rest of my purchases when they arrive. Now, please don't think I'm a stuck up rich girl aiiite. I don't usually spend money like this, it's because I hardly buy anything during the year that I have the means to go all crazy - spending over $1500 in 24 hours. I'm pretty much broke now and will probably have to work my ass off for the next six months before I can buy anything again. That is, if i'm lucky enough to find a full time job!

I'm coming back, I swear

It's my every intention to return to blogging after pretty much 6 years of on and off running away.

I've been taking small steps like increasing my footprint on Instagram and starting Dayre so let's see how this goes.
