Za Beauty School by Shiseido NZ

A month ago, my friend invited me to register for the "Za Beauty School". It took place yesterday at the Auckland Shiseido Headquarters. I was told that it was going to be 1.5 hours long but when we got there, we found out the morning session had run over time. =O

We had Shiseido NZ's head make up artist giving demonstrations - and we all got a certificate that was signed by Hiro. He was all humble and sweet, "oh I'm not that good!" and I was like "bitch please... Shiseido's head make up artist... not that good, yeah right." It seems like most people who went were interested in learning about make up. I was really just there for the Skincare information. Honestly speaking, so I didn't realise it was literally a "beauty school". I just thought it was just going to be Za introducing their products and giving an overview of their products that were in our packs.

That's what was in our take home pack. We went through skincare - they focused on Total Hydration since it's their newest line. I really love the packaging of this line. It's pink and gorgeous and even though I don't really use it because I'm so lazy... I think I'd love to have the whole line, just so I could have a beautiful shelf.

I can't really remember how we're supposed to use this. So much for paying attention... but I do remember that we were suggested to spray a bit of water if we didn't like the oiliness of it. So I guess one day, perhaps in the holidays, I will research this, figure out how it works and what to use it for, then use it and then blog about it. I fail at being a girl. I haven't even removed the packaging.

Total Hydration's cleanser. Yet another product to add to my shelf. You can't see it... but I'll admit it anyway. I haven't removed the packaging yet either. Can't wait to try this one out. While we were there, I tried the toner (apparently more of a "softener") and then the amino gel - I WAS SO EXCITED when I tried it. It made my face feel so good! And fresh. I wanted to use it again instantly. I kept feeling up my face. I should have bought the amino gel instead of the deep moist cream. I need to get me that gel.

The BB Cream - which I won a few weeks earlier. I shamelessly tried to have this exchanged but the lady said everyone had the same stuff inside their bag so it's not like they could give me something I didn't have. I didn't understand why they didn't just offer to give me something off their shelf. It is headquarters, full of stock. Never mind.

I've never used foundation in my life. They came around and matched everyone's skin colour to the best Za foundation. I take this chance to once again mention... I fail as a girl. =/ I also don't use lip gloss. I hate having stuff on my lips because if I have stuff on my lips, I feel the need to lick it off/play with it. Also, having stuff on my face feels so heavy.

My current collection of Za's Total Hydration line. I don't use any of it... probably should since I'm getting way old. Have I mentioned how much I love the packaging? Oh when did I turn into such a pink lover? There will be a sale coming up next month! So I can't wait for that. Gonna get me some gel and softener.

But now, now is sleep time.

NZ public transport: RAGE

I know I updated like a few hours ago but whatever. I don't feel like using LiveJournal.

Today, like most days, I walked down to Britomart to take the train home.

These are the stops:

• Britomart
• Newmarket
• Remuera
• Greenlane
• Ellerslie
• Penrose
• Te Papapa
• Onehunga

Travelling from Britomart to Onehunga takes approximately 30 minutes. Now just before we reach Greenlane, we slow down to a stop and we didn't really know what was going on. After six minutes, the ticket guy came and told us there was a broken down freight train in front of us blocking the way. Hopefully it will be fixed and resolved in a few minutes.

That didn't happen. So they said yet had to switch lanes. But they can only switch lanes by going backwards to Newmarket!!!! And since it will be going against the "flow of traffic" they needed to complete paperwork and send it back. Fair enough. Fair enough.

So off we went, back to Newmarket and from there we were taken straight to Penrose (stopped at Ellerslie but didn't open doors). At Penrose, they told us to get off because this was the last stop and the train is going back to Britomart. Wtf?! The last stop is supposed to be Onehunga!!!!!! This was already around 9:15 - about half an hour past schedule! And they dumped us at Penrose station.

Apparently they called for taxis but only one turned up and some bitch told the guy that we aren't getting into the taxi until the other two get here.

They told us that they've called a few taxis to pick us up from Penrose. We waited ten minutes for the first taxi but one of the passengers went to talk to him and demanded to know when the other two taxis were coming. She ten took the liberty of declaring that she, along with everyone else, weren't going to be getting in his taxi until the other two taxis showed up. Wtf! I sort of understand where she is coming from - because it's not fair if four goes first and the other 8 are left stranded.

I was like bitch, speak for yourself. I wouldn't care less. They said taxis are on their way, chill. What's the problem with for people going first and then the taxi could come back?! Well whatever. Being the real laid back Kiwis that we are everyone just chilled out on the side of the road (seriously, no one can be bothered to argue) and it wasn't until ages later that another taxi turned up - still not enough for all of us.

So she's all up and huffing and declaring that she's going to make a gigantic complaint etc etc. So now we have two taxis waiting on the side of the road. We must have been there about 30 minutes - long enough for the next train to Onehunga to arrive!!! So she and some others who were still standing on the platform gets on the train and eight of us get in the two taxis. Fuck her. The first taxis could have dropped us all off in that time frame. It only takes a little bit over five minutes from Penrose to Onehunga at that time of the night. But no, we all had to wait over half an hour with her.

I'm supposed to be pissed at Auckland Transport - why couldn't the train take us two more stops to Onehunga?! Why did it ditch us at Penrose?! Whatever. And why no taxis on a Monday night?! Every single taxi busy meh?! I slightly doubt the train company even called for three taxis. But no, I'm even more mad at her. She might think its unfair to the people who get left behind and have to wait longer. Well, I think it's worse when you have the taxi waiting just as long and at least four people could have instantly been on their way. The taxi could have come back soon enough.

But you know, being the laid back and supportive kiwis that we are, we just went with it. I was actually really gleeful when the taxis took so long to come and when she called the train company using the train station phone, she got incompetent answers. I hope she was made to buy extra tickets when she boarded the train again.

Anyway as I said, two taxis turned up and both were Indian drivers. MY GOD. Best looking Indian men I've ever seen. Pretty funny too. It wasn't just me that thought the lady was strung up. The other two guys who got into the taxi with me were joking with the cabbie about how that lady needed a chill pill. Seriously. Make everyone lose time and wait. Whatever.

IC COMPS ARE TOO SLOW

This is going to be a very jumpy post because I'm jumpy, sleepy and pissed at the computer.

I'm sitting at a comp in IC because I want to do my ArcGIS assignment but the computers are way too slow and my ArcMap isn't loading fast enough.

So here I am, opting to make a blog post. I missed last week's. Why? Because I was busy doing an assignment and helping my friend in Japan do translations. Oh and when I wasn't doing that, I was watching Grey's Anatomy. I started from the beginning again because I have no idea where I stopped watching like five years ago.

Last week, my boss from my old job called me and gave me my job back - instant. I start again in two days. The second I stop wishing for something, it will always present itself to me. Due to this, I suddenly had much less time to do my assignments/studying (you know, since I leave everything to the last possible minute). I was supposed to spend the Saturday with Freak so I was freaking out about no time and I started wishing for her appointment to be cancelled. It was. Ok, wish hard enough, you get it.

WELL HERE'S A WISH: I WISH ARCMAP WILL STOP BEING SO SLOW ON THIS STUPID COMPUTER.

Whatever. I also learnt something new. For the past week, I've been tortured by Python because we are learning it for compsci111. I didn't pay attention in class so I struggled with the lab. Thank god I have the co-founder of Notable as a friend. Messaged him and he explained the code to me and wrote one for me so I could learn it. Finished it in time.

Today Nescafe was hanging out in the quad giving out free coffee. Asians don't say no to free things - even if I don't drink coffee. So I walk up and grab some freebies.

First, you get a voucher for $1 off the pack in the supermarkets...

Then the girl handed me the cup of coffee.

I was thinking how did they get a tap in the middle of the quad? Who cares, I had to go to class and the cup of coffee was burning my delicate hand.

The extra sachet that was also given with the coffee.

After my freebie collecting self was satisfied, I headed off to my GIS lecture. I suck at paying attention in class. God knows how I manage to pass. Since I am really bad at it, I ended up playing on Instagram - I've discovered the joy of hash tags. Well, I've always known it, so I guess I should say "I've discovered the joy that hash tags bring me". I used hash tags in one of my pictures and people liked my pictures. So... being the attention seeking whore that I am, I went back and hash tagged most of my previous pictures and waited for the likes. So lame.

Also, I just quit the ArcMap programme because I couldn't handle the wait.

Back to my being unable to focus in lectures? Well, I started taking photos of my scarf.

I love red. I have yet to post this on instagram. Also, during my lecture, I decided to do a few things.

  1. Hurry up and pass my full license
  2. Do something crazy - that is go with my friends to Momotea. ...in Hamilton. Thus the need for my full license.
  3. Drive up to Cape Reinga. BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS WILL FOLLOW.
The coffee must have worked well because I had become focused and I even took notes in the last half hour of the two hour lecture.

Well, I've killed enough time. I should probably head home. My eyes are killing me but I cannot remove my contacts.

My dental check up

OK SO I LIED. I've been helping my friend do Japanese to English translations this whole week so I haven't had the time to type up my week in Hong Kong.

So here's my dentist blog - my visit to Onehealth Dental in Remuera.

If you read the post I made a few weeks back, you’d know that my friend, Freak recently bought a deal for a dental check up + clean + 2 xrays and she went used the voucher. Her last check up was about 2 years ago which was fine so she was expecting pretty good results this time. Unfortunately for her, she had to get 6 fillings and one of her wisdom tooth (she knew about this one) removed. She was quoted over NZ$800!!!

Ouch!

I haven’t been to a dentist since intermediate school – like a decade ago. The intermediate school I went to had a dental clinic on site so students got called up and had regular checkups and cleans. After intermediate, you had to sign up with your own dentist. Being the lazy person that I am, I never did... so throughout my five years of high school and until I turned 18, I never took advantage of the free dental care (dental care is covered by the government until you turn 18).

So when another deal came up on Grabone, I decided to buy it. I paid $89 for the voucher which included a check up, clean, 2 xrays and 10% discount on any further work needed. I went in two weeks ago on Thursday to book an appointment and lucky for me, someone had cancelled theirs so I made my appointment for the very next day!

Boy oh boy... it felt rushed, but then again, I don't know what visits to the dentist should feel like. The dentist was really good though! He was so nice and chatty. His assistant was giggly but I feel like it was all a show. LOL.

I was clean and cleared - the only thing really that the dentist recommended was that I return for another clean (ten years build up is quite a lot) and I was quoted NZD$164!!! My god. It is a whole lot cheaper than my friend's, but I can't just conjure money out of thin air.

Now, every time I eat, I get the urge to brush my teeth. I JUST HAVE TO KEEP IT CLEAN. UGH! What's worse is that two front teeth on my bottom row are not in line. After the dentist cleaned it, there's now a gap that I can't stop playing with!! My tongue is now really sore (from playing with the gap and getting scratched by it) and I can't take it anymore. I really want to have my teeth straightened. The crookedness of my teeth never bothered me - it's on the bottom row and no one really notices it. It's not even that big of a deal since it's only just slight. But now... UGH. Need. TO. STRAIGHTEN. TEETH!!!

For the past week, when I wasn't obsessing over my gap, or my friend's translation documents, I was obsessing over this. I've been texting my uncle in HK about dental care there. SOUNDS SO MUCH CHEAPER. I'm truly keen to go for a check up and clean and get a quote for teeth straightening the next time I go back.

Gotta weigh it up... new laptop vs straight teeth. Straight teeth is winning unfortunately even though technically new laptop is probably more important since my teeth isn't a health issue - assuming I have cleans every year.

So it's decided. Straight teeth it is. Of course, it'd be best if I got everything...
